Afghanistan-middle Iran: prospected and challenge toward cooperation on peace and security

Regarding Iran's role in the peace and security of Afghanistan, several important and necessary points should be considered.
First; From Iran's point of view, Afghanistan as an independent geopolitical identity has no meaning. Afghanistan has always been considered as part of the identity of the subcontinent or Central Asia.
Therefore, Afghanistan has played a marginal role in Iran's regional strategy.
Second ; Iran's approach in regional policy has been more towards West Asia, ie the Arab countries and Israel as allies of the West.
Third, the Middle East is under the influence of various countries, including major powers such as the United States, Russia, and China, as well as regional powers such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and Egypt.
Thus, Iran has concentrated its sphere of influence on an area called West Asia, in which Afghanistan still has a marginal role and has not received much attention.
After 9/11, and especially with the withdrawal of international troops and the weakness of the Afghan government, Iran now has to pay more attention to Afghanistan, especially the return of the Taliban to power and the loss of the previous balance between Iran, Pakistan and India in Afghanistan. .
My fourth point; With the escalation of hostilities between the United States and Iran in the international arena, especially in the Middle East, Iran is trying to strengthen its policy of looking east and the document of 25 years of strategic cooperation between Iran and China, as well as Iran's strategic approach to cooperation with Russia.

That Afghanistan regains its regional importance in Iran's new eastward policy. But this situation is facing strategic confusion in Afghanistan's regional policy because in the first; Afghanistan's position on its policy of reconciliation with the Taliban and Pakistan is still unclear. Secondly, Pakistan is not interested in Afghanistan playing a role in regional politics with Iran without the Taliban in power. Third,; Iran has not yet gained the confidence of the Afghan government to act as a link between Iran's regional interests and China, and this has left the issue complicated and ambiguous.

My suggestion is that given the introduction of the Afghanistan-Iran Strategic Partnership Summit, which is in its final stages, there is a need for Afghanistan and Iran to review this document, Iran's new approach to the East, and Afghanistan's new policy without support. NATO and the West should be placed on the bilateral dialogue table to pave the way for the formation of new relations between Iran and Afghanistan, which will guarantee lasting peace, stability and security in Afghanistan and the region.
